The Universe in a Flower

A very young purple coneflower bud shows all the petals that the mature bloom will have arranged as tiny green spikes in a mesmerizing swirl. The flowers take several weeks to mature and last for months.

Zinnia redux. Just look at these double monsters! I grow these because they were my Polish grandmother`s favorite and because they are native to the south west of the continent. And because they are so stunning and long lived. This color range is from my own seed. This year I have introduced into the mix burgundy and true orange so next year`s color palette and intermixing will be a thrill.
