Crystal King Scrappy was composed of actual scraps

During the cutting of the shapes for the Polytopia sculpture, the pieces were often cut from many layers of fabric at once which resulted in many scraps that were identical and often in mirror shapes.

We did an exercise we sometimes do in which I passed pairs of shapes to Marc and he arranged them as they were handed to him – he didn’t have a choice as to what came next and my job in the exercise is to “break it”, ie. to make it difficult so that critical thought goes out the window and all that remains is ridiculous fun and no inhibition. We call the process “You Can’t Wreck It” and it works every time.

We took a photo at every pair of shapes – here is a selection to show the process.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5159″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
