Polytopia, World of Threads Festival 2012

The World of Threads Festival is an international showcase of contemporary fibre art and in 2012 exhibited the work of nearly 200 artists from 12 countries and 8 Canadian provinces. Diverse wall and sculptural pieces and installations in a wide variety of fibre media will be exhibited in 11 exhibitions in Oakville and 10 shows  in Toronto.

Protrusion, part of World of Threads Festival

Gold Staple, a large installation of the ongoing Polytopia textile art project was be installed in the Protrusion exhibition that showed the work of four textile artists:

Lynn Kelly
Robyn Thomas
Ying Yueh-Chuang

World of Threads Festival

The Festival website has information about every exhibition, lists of exhibiting artists, and Events Calendars to plan your visit. Please note that the Toronto shows open a week after the Oakville shows. All exhibition dates, times and openings vary, and some shows remain open longer, closing after the official close of the Festival.

Location and Installation

The installation site is the east wall of the Red Room, just to the left of the entrance at 401 Richmond.
