$29.99 – $39.99
This diagram describes the concept of Actor Network Theory as it is applied in Critical Visualisation. It presents the case study of the Polar Graph diagram that was created and employed by Florence Nightingale as she and her team worked to improve battlefield health outcomes for the British Army during the Crimean War.
Description
In 2021 Marc made a series of 4 diagrams for a book called Critical Visualization (Bloomsbury,2022) by Peter A. Hall and Patricio Davila. As the title suggests, this work takes an in depth look at how data is presented and how the viewer of visualizations can understand and accommodate for the inevitably biased systems that produce the data and its representations. It is filled with case studies of existing data visualizations as well as detailed commentary on their significance to the books themes. The four diagrams were designed to augment the author’s ideas and were commissioned specifically for this work. Read more about this project here.
